The EVS Board provides recommendations to the Board and the General Assembly of TEGoVA in respect of amendments required to European Valuation Standards.

TEGoVA has published six editions of European Valuation Standards (EVS). The impetus for the early editions was provided by the Fourth Council Directive of 25 July 1978 (78/660/EEC) whilst the publication of the European Council Directive on the Annual Accounts and Consolidated Accounts for Insurance Undertakings (91/647/EEC) necessitated revision to EVS to include the specific European Union definition of Market Value. The latest edition was published in April 2009 at an international valuation conference in Warsaw.

The EVSB is currently working on a revision of EVA4, Assessment of Insurable Value with the cooperation of CEA, the European Insurance Federation.

TEGoVA has secured EU funding, to enable the preparation of detailed guidance notes and information papers to support European Valuation Standards. Work is now ongoing to prepare appropriate papers. These will be provided online on a priority basis.

Whist standards are concerned with fundamental valuation principles; guidance notes, information papers and country chapters are required to interpret and apply those principles in compliance with national legislation.
