The Dubai Land Department (DLD) was established in 1960 for the purpose of registering land and property sales and ownership. Since that date, the DLD has been involved in valuation activities both to the public sector and the private sector. The Real Estate Regulatory Agency (RERA) was set up in 2007 as a regulator to the booming real estate market in Dubai. Taqyeem (the Real Estate Appraisal Centre) was set up jointly between the DLD and RERA in 2009 to act as a regulator for property valuations in Dubai.
Taqyeem activities:
• dopting internationally-accepted valuation standards and measuring standards
• Registering valuation companies and individuals
• Setting up educational courses and degrees in valuation
• International cooperation with leading bodies in valuation
• Enhancing transparency in the market.
• To promote the image of Dubai and the UAE
• To enhance business activities in the city
• To become a centre of excellence regionally for valuation
The Dubai Land Department, Real Estate Regulatory Agency and Taqyeem are Governmental bodies.
